News Tracker
Event intelligence · Ingestion and desktop tools · Open project
Combines financial-headline ingestion, per-symbol deduplication, persistent queues, topic exploration, and MySQL storage with SEC-filing and headline review tools.
Includes a SEC API WebSocket filings stream, topic-indexed news collections, source links, filtering, and user-directed summary/post construction and scheduling controls.
Python · MySQL · SQLAlchemy · pandas · NLTK · PyQt · WebSockets
Database MCP servers
AI tooling · Implemented server with multiple client launchers · Open project
Developed database-connected FastMCP tooling for ChatGPT, Grok, and OpenClaw clients. Provides semantic catalog discovery, schema descriptions, bounded table queries, symbol-news retrieval, and business-summary search.
Uses validated identifiers, parameterized SQL values, configurable result limits, OAuth resource-server support, and optional narrowly scoped write tools. The Grok configuration registers read-only tools.

Comparative bacteriophage genomics
Master’s thesis · University of Louisiana at Monroe · 2015
Formal thesis author: Joshua Derek Jones. The work characterizes JP1 and CDLY3, two bacteriophages isolated from soil in northeast Louisiana that infect the plant pathogen Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
Sequenced CDLY3 using the Ion Torrent PGM; assessed and finished a previously sequenced JP1 consensus; refined annotations; investigated putative protein function; and compared genomes.
- Prepared phage genomic DNA and Ion Xpress fragment libraries; evaluated concentration, purity, and library size with a NanoDrop spectrophotometer and Agilent Bioanalyzer; sequenced CDLY3 on the Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine.
- Used Consed/AceUtil to identify low-quality or discrepant regions in JP1, designed flanking primers with Primer3, amplified selected regions by PCR, and compared external resequencing results with the consensus.
- Used DNA Master 5.22.6 with Glimmer, GeneMark, and Aragorn; manually reviewed start sites, coding potential, overlaps, gene direction, and gaps instead of accepting all automated calls.
- Used BLASTp and HHpred to infer putative protein functions, then aligned JP1, CDLY3, and phage 7-7-1 with Progressive Mauve 2.3.1.
Compared JP1 (96,922 bp), CDLY3 (99,048 bp), and Agrobacterium phage 7-7-1. Manually reviewed genome annotations and used sequence/domain homology to infer putative functions.
